Here is a list of things that I thoroughly enjoyed during the summer of '12 (I won't speak for Stephen ;) :
-the 2 times we went fishing (wish we had the energy to go more)
-getting ice cream from dairy queen numerous times (we also went to Yogurt Yeti and Mr. Goodies, but my pregnant self enjoyed DQ the most)
-feeling my baby boy move
-going for walks in downtown Lynchburg or Liberty's campus at dusk with Stephen
-sitting by the pool at Forestbrook or Princeton Square while reading the kindle or painting my nails
It obviously does not take much to keep me entertained, but I think Stephen is thankful for that :)
My pregnancy treated me very well up until a week or two into the 3rd trimester, which was about the beginning of June. My blood pressure levels, weight gain, and protein levels were perfect each time I went to the OB/GYN. However, I started to retain water and my feet, ankles, legs, and fingers began to swell up like a hot air balloon. No matter how often I elevated my feet, the swelling stayed. I began to avoid wearing shorts skirts, or capris because I didn't want anyone to see my 'fat' feet. I could only wear one pair of sandals. I couldn't fit my feet into my boots, any other sandals, my tennis shoes (I had to keep the laces untied if I were to wear them), my sperrys, my wedges, or my crocs! By the time the 3rd trimester came to an end, I had gained 40 more pounds! That water weight will get you!
Besides being swollen, the pregnancy was great and we were so excited to meet our son. This summer, we went to a friend's wedding, survived a derecho, took a tour of Virginia Baptist Hospital, visited northern Virginia for our baby shower, drove 2 cars with broken air conditioners, visited The Master's Inn, and rented a pontoon at Smith Mountain Lake for a day. And I also just got my nails and toenails done as well as my hair cut so I'll be looking somewhat decent when our sweet boy arrives. We can't wait to meet our little guy!
Me at 37 weeks-we obviously still had some work to do to get his room ready! |
